Virgin nylon with heavy-duty locking mechanism. Insoluble in common solvents, alkalis, dilute mineral acids and most organic acids or petrochemicals. Black cable ties feature UV inhibitors for longer life.
Tech Tip: Cable Ties and Moisture
To prevent brittleness and cracking, a certain amount of moisture is incorporated into the Nylon 6/6 material that makes cable ties. Over time, this added moisture can evaporate; especially in dry conditions with low relative humidity. The following steps will help cable ties retain their pliability and tensile strength:
- Cable ties should be stored in the manufacturer’s original packaging until ready for use
- Partial cable tie bags should be closed and sealed if at all possible; Several drops of water can be added to the bag to provide moisture
- Cable ties should not be stored in an unheated warehouse or similar location
- Cable ties inventory should be rotated frequently and used within one year of purchase
