Color, this is simple: Pick a color that you would like the line to be. Try to pick something that is different from the other items you have on your boats so you can deceiver from one another.
Working end: would you like it whipped or spliced? How about a spliced on shackle?
Bitter End: We can just burn it, whip it or add a Flemish loop *reeving eye into the bitter end of the line.
